FOSTER AND SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION

POSTED: 04/22/08
***Fostering is basically taking the dog into your home for a few weeks and loving them like they were your own. We normally do this for dogs that have been at our shelter for a while and need some room to run and fresh air, this also helps give them more time to be adopted. A home check will be done before releasing to foster and you must fill out the foster form.

You may download both the adoption and foster forms from our website. They are under our "adopt an animal" section

**In the event that someone can not adopt or foster but wants to help a particular dog we have a sponsorship program in which a person will donate $60 per month to go towards the dogs feeding and medical care, it will also help cover the adoption fee for the pet allowing them to be adopted more quickly.

SAD STORY WITH HAPPY ENDING

POSTED: 12/09/07
We would like to share one of our success stories with you:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This picture is of a poodle left in the outside cages. She was so matted up she had sores where hair had separated from her skin. Her toenails were so long they curled around and touched the pads of her feet. We really couldn't tell what color she was. She also has a cataract covering her eye.

There was a lady who had seen her in the outside cage the morning we opened and told the dog that she would try her best to come and adopt her. She showed up the next day with scissors, toenail clippers and hairbrush and spent about 2 hours trying to groom her. The dog was so good and just enjoyed being groomed. The lady said she was still trying to arrange it so she could take this special dog home. I called Crystal at PetsMart grooming and asked her if she needed a dog to groom. They do a lot of free grooming on our dogs to help train their students. (THANK YOU PETSMART!! ) She said to bring her in. This is a picture of Andrea a grooming student who did the poodles groom.

The dog is now a white-apricot poodle with a new home. The lady (Ms. Grisham) found a way to adopt her and had brought her a sweater to wear after her groom (because she new she would be cold after her shave down). She adopted her and named her Princess. She has been a very lucky dog. We actually thank whoever it was that turned her in, because now she won't be neglected anymore.

I want to thank the PetsMart grooming crew especially Crystal for remembering our shelter dogs and calling when she has an open groom. They do wonderful work!

This is a picture of the Lawndale Elementary class that sold feathers as a way to raise money. They chose us to donate it to us! They raised $500.00 and we will recognize their dedication to help the animals by placing a plaque on one of the new puppy cages. Michelle Webb's (our kennel master) daughter Monique suggested the animal shelter as a charity to receive their money.

We are so proud to have been chosen and we really appreciate the donation. We are lucky to have so many young supporters!
